Persephone’s Return:
Multimedia Exhibition

Persephone's Return: A Multimedia Exhibition is a work in development reimagining the Greek myth of Demeter and Persephone, to be experienced as site-specific live and in gallery or museum settings.

Exhibition Components

The exhibition will be built out of the following media forms, layered to create the experience.

Audio; Operatic songs composed from the duologue and ambient sound-scape establish the tone and context for the visual media. To be delivered over speakers in the exhibition space, and through phones in the AR offsite experience.

AR (Augmented Reality) ; animated VFX and camera effects allow users to reveal more about certain pieces at the exhibition. This media will juxtapose or compliment those pieces, expanding on the dual themes of maturation and migration.

Mixed Media physical; A series of pieces (both new and from Vicky’s past works) provide the basis of a more traditional exhibition. Documentary, poems, stills etc build a physical environment that the audio tracks and AR respond to.

Live; Performances and artist classes are run from the “underworld” of the gallery Visitors are invited to partake of the fruits of the exhibition and leave with new ideas. Local artists and community members are invited to contribute their experiences to the exhibition; these are carried forward to new locations and new communities.

Expanding Reach Through Digital Platforms

The advantage of digital platforming for this exhibition is the ability to expand the reach and accessibility of the content beyond the physical boundaries of the exhibition space. By utilising online platforms and social media channels, we can share our content with a wider audience, regardless of their location or ability to physically attend. Our goal is to generate interest and awareness, facilitating ongoing conversations and connections between visitors and the themes explored.

Redefining Art with Digital AR Experiences

The digital AR experience challenges traditional art forms like music, opera, and dance by employing meta-narratives for a multi-dimensional exhibition. This project aims to create high-quality art for the global stage, building an audience for both the exhibition and future works.
